We live in a society that has the attitude “I want it my way” and no one is going to change that. This goes for everything all the way to ones “religion.”

This is sad because the Bible is clear that one simply cannot have “religion” the way he/she wants it. God has set forth the pattern by which he wants religion to be. God wants religion the way He wants it. God did not ask finite man what he thought when it came to worship, when it came to (religion).

In John 4:24, Christ said that God is to be worshiped in “spirit and in truth.” There is a lot said in this one statement. Simply put God desires and expects to be worshiped the way that He has prescribed.

Notice the statement made by Paul  when writing to Titus, “Likewise exhort the young men to be sober-minded, in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you (Titus 2:6-8) (emp. mine).

The New Testament is a pattern to be followed in life and in religion. It is not as hard as many make it out to be or would like it to be. If one will only go to the Scriptures and leave behind his/her preconceived ideas, one can understand what God desires. Notice again what one of the inspired writers said, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3) (emp. mine).

May we all open our Bibles, and learn what God would have us to learn. God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). The only way for this to happen is to study with an open mind.
