How Do I Get There?

In John 14:6, Jesus Christ told his disciples “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

It is interesting that so many today read these same words and think they can get to the Father any way they want. Jesus made it clear to his followers 2,000 years ago and it should be just as clear today. If a person wants to get to the Father they must go through the Son.

What does this mean?

It means that one must follow the teachings of Christ, and His teachings must be obeyed. In Acts 4:12, the writer declares “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” In context Christ is the one under consideration.

It is not hard to find out what Christ would have one to do. Simply, read the New Testament which is the Testament of Christ. This will tell one everything he needs to know in order to enter the door which is Christ.

Many are steeped in man-made religions; however, Christ only has one.

One accesses Christ in a simple fashion. The apostle Paul put it this way, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” One might also reference Romans 6:3, 4.

One must also be part of the one body which is the church (Eph. 1:22, 23), this body is who Christ will save (Eph. 5:23). It is interesting that the same act the places one in Christ, also puts one into this body (Acts 2:41), and the Lord adds to it not man (Acts 2:47).

My desire and fervent prayer is that all may realize that Christ is the only way to heaven. If you find that you are part of a church (one that originated with a man) that does not teach everything according to the Bible, I would urge you to study as those during the time of the apostles (Acts 17:11).

The church which Christ built (Matthew 16:18-20) still exists today, and you can be a part of it. The church of Christ strives to do Bible things Bible ways, and seeks to do only what the Bible says. Find a church of Christ near you, study the Scriptures, and check everything any man tells you against what the Bible says.

The Bible is always right (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
